HalloweenExpress.com announces it’s 2011 Read Across America Story Contest. Read Across America is a national day celebrating reading. The idea was first created in May 1997 as a way to get children excited about reading. It is celebrated on Dr. Seuss’s Birthday – March 2nd. So on March 2nd, 1998 the largest celebration of reading began. By celebrating Dr. Seuss, the most beloved children’s author, children get the message that reading is important and fun. Read Across America is now celebrated annually on Dr. Seuss’s birthday, March 2nd.
THE CONTEST. The 2011 HalloweenExpress.com Read Across America Story Contest begins on February 7, 2011 and ends on March 11, 2011. The contest is geared toward schools, libraries and parents with young children. To enter the contest, send us an email telling us how you (or your school) celebrates Read Across America. Your story can be brief or lengthy. Pictures and video clips may also be submitted to support your story. Contest entries will be judged based on originality, cleverness, educational value and uniqueness.
THE PRIZES. The top five (5) entries will be recognized on our website, company blog and Face Book fan page. In addition, we will award First and Second place prizes as follows:
First Place:The first place contest winner will receive a $100 HalloweenExpress.com credit voucher along with an exclusive 15% off coupon code for the elementary school, middle school or high school of their choice (available to be used by currently enrolled students, parents or staff members at said school).
Second Place: The second place contest winner will receive a $50 HalloweenExpress.com credit voucher along with an exclusive 10% off coupon code for the elementary school, middle school or high school of their choice (available to be used by currently enrolled students, parents or staff members at said school).
The two winners’ credit vouchers are valid thru 12-31-11 and may be used just like money on www.HalloweenExpress.com. The exclusive discount coupon codes are valid through 12-31-11 and may be used for purchases made online at www.HalloweenExpress.com with no minimum purchase. Discount coupon code usage is subject to the HalloweenExpress.com coupon policy.
HOW TO ENTER. To enter the contest, send us an email at contest [at] halloweenexpress.com telling us how you (or your school) celebrates Read Across America. Your story can be brief or lengthy. Pictures and video clips may also be submitted to support your story but should not exceed 2mb in size. This contest is open to residents of any of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia (EXCLUDING OVERSEAS MILITARY INSTALLATIONS, PUERTO RICO AND OTHER U.S. TERRITORIES). Each entry must be in writing and must be submitted electronically via email. Entries must be submitted by an adult, 18 years of age or older. One entry per email address.
THE WINNERS. All winners will be notified by email on March 14, 2011. Contest entries will be judged by HalloweenExpress.com personnel and based on originality, cleverness, educational value and uniqueness.
