We All Scream For Ice Cream!

icecreamcone

Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month and that the third Sunday of the month is always considered “National Ice Cream Day”?  Well low and behold yesterday was the third Sunday – did you celebrate with an ice cream cone?  Even though it’s not a National holiday (which I can’t understand) it’s by far the best tasting one!

In searching online to find the origins of this wonderful holiday I found that it was originally proclaimed so by President Reagan in 1984.  No wonder President Reagan’s was so popular!

There’s not a person out there that doesn’t remember running out to meet the ice cream man the minute you heard his truck coming up the street playing with the song “The Entertainer” blaring through big speakers on the roof.  I remember summers in our neighborhood just waiting for the ice cream man to come down our street when I was little and my children do it today.  It’s a tradition that I hope sticks around for a long time.  Although I do remember the ice cream being quite a bit cheaper when I was little compared to the prices on the side of the truck now!

To show support for this awesome “unofficial” holiday, HalloweenExpress.com has an Ice Cream Cone Costume complete with sprinkles!  It is the funniest costume and believe me you’ll be the talk of town for National Ice Cream Month!

The Big Screen Movies are Raking It In!

transformerslogo400.jpg

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen once again held on to the top spot at the box office this past weekend but shared the title with another great movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.  Both earned an estimated $42.5 million over the July 4th weekend!  I’m a big fan of both Transformers and Ice Age so it was a fun weekend here!

I’ve been reading everywhere that this Transformers sequel is the “worst-reviewed movie to ever make the $400 million club.”  Well that just goes to show you what the critics like and what the mass movie-going population like are completely different.  Who cares what the critics say!  If that many people are going to see the movie then they must be really wrong on this one!  We loved it.  My son is a huge Transformer fan and has recruited his dad and I into that same category.  It really is a great movie!

However, my all time favorite movie – the one that can make you belly laugh through the whole thing – is Ice Age!  Sid the Sloth is hilarious!!  So it was no surprise to me that this new 3rd sequel Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs did well at the box office.  What’s so neat about Ice Age is that even though it’s a Disney/Pixar animated series the humor is for children and adults alike.  You never stop laughing!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is coming out on July 15 and is sure to be a huge hit!  People of all ages just can’t seem to get enough of old Harry!  This will be the 6th novel turned big screen hit by J.K. Rowlings.  They’re saying this might be just the movie to beat out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at the box office.  Well we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we!

Movies make such a big impact on Halloween that movie costumes are flying off the shelves.  Transformer costumes and Harry Potter costumes will be huge this Halloween.  If you plan on attending the movie premiere of Harry Potter be sure to get all your Harry Potter costume and accessory needs at HalloweenExpress.com.   Both movies make for great group costumes too!

Movie Costumes Rock!

Movies make up a large part of Halloween costumes.  There are so many great movie characters from the past and present that it’s hard to choose just one.  From adult costumes to kids costumes, HalloweenExpress.com has them all!

Superheroes are always at the top of the charts when it comes to costumes.  Batman, Spiderman and Superman are the three most popular superhero costumes.  They’re the classic tried-and-true of the crime fighting, save the world superheroes.

Of course you can’t have Halloween without Jason, Michael and Freddie!  Friday the 13th, Halloween and Nightmare of Elm Street are old school Halloween and everyone loves them!

Star Wars, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean are just a few movies that have stood the test of time when it comes to great Halloween costumes.

This year with big blockbuster hits like Transformers, Wolverine and Star Trek making appearances on the big screen there’s no doubt that the Halloween movie costumes of 2009 will be spectacular!

Don’t Forget the Makeup!

The biggest aspect of the Halloween holiday is of course, costumes.  For children it’s the fun of dressing up and going out trick-or-treating; for adults a costume makes up the character or “thing” they become for a night out with their friends clubbing or going for that 1st prize win at costume parties.

Halloween costumes are all fine and good, but what makes a costume complete is the costume makeup.  Even though many costumes today have masks as part of the look, many rely on accessories such as makeup to put the finishing touches on their costume.  And it’s definitely not your mothers makeup!

Halloween makeup kits are so easy to apply since most are geared toward your specific costume.  Clowns, devils, vampires and witches are just a few costumes in which makeup kits are easy to apply.  Instructions on how to apply the makeup is included in each kit and easy to follow.

So before you just throw on a mask, ask yourself if makeup would be a better alternative to give your costume the edge you’re looking for!

Transformers Are Back And Want Revenge!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is coming soon to a theater near you!  Actually its release date is Wednesday, June 24th and my son Caden couldn’t be happier.  We took him to see the orginal Transformers movie back in 2007 and he loved it.  I was actually thinking about not going with him and my husband because I thought it was going to be a “kids” movie and I wasn’t a big transformer toy fan.  Wow, I couldn’t have been more wrong!  It was awesome!

Even though the transformers are actually “autobots” and are there to save the humans on earth, each autobot has a personality and before you know it you’re cheering them on; Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are so cute!

Now with the sequel coming out next week, Transformer costumes will be flying off the shelves!  Kids all over the world are going to want to put on an Optimus Prime costume or Bumblebee Costume and save the Earth from Megatron.  It will be a great summer costume as well giving your kids hours of fun saving the world!
