Can You Tell Me How To Get To Sesame Street!

Sesame Street

Sesame Street

On November 10, 1969 a children’s production with a mix of adults, kids, muppets, live animation and music premiered on PBS.   It was a little educational program geared toward inner city children that turned into the longest running children’s program on television.  There’s not a child or adult that does not recognize the theme song when they hear, “Can you tell me how to get…how to get to Sesame Street”!

The muppet characters on Sesame Street are just as popular today as they were 40 years ago.

  • Bert and Ernie
  • Big Bird
  • Cookie Monster
  • Elmo
  • Oscar
  • Grover
  • Count Von Count

Sesame Street costumes are always popular at Halloween for both children and adults.  Just last year, our friends next door went to the annual neighborhood party as Bert and Ernie.  The kids loved it because the characters were recognizable to them.  The adults loved it because the costumes were hysterical!

Who doesn’t love Big Bird and Elmo; the grouch Oscar with his garbage can or the adorable blue Cookie Monster?  Sesame Street is filled with wonderful characters that children love to watch and learn from.  There’s not many shows on television today that both children and parents love to watch.

Here’s to another 40 years of Sesame Street!

My Little Angel!

Cute Angel Infant Costume

Cute Angel Infant CostumeHow many times have we referred to our little girls as “my little angel”?  It’s an endearing term that just about every mother and father gives their little bundle of joy.

I’m pretty sure that it’s some unwritten law that little girls have to be an angel for Halloween.  I was when I was young and both my daughters have been angels for Halloween.  The white dress, the fairy wings and the beautiful halo are all a part of what children see when their looking for that perfect angel costume.

Mine always loved a costume that sparkled and angel costumes glitter, so it’s a perfect match.  You don’t see too many little boy angels because they’re usually more into things that don’t glitter and have wings.

Angel costumes aren’t just for Halloween either.  Many schools use them for plays and productions, especially around the Christmas holiday.  They also come in every shape and size so your daughter will have plenty of costumes to pick from in the angel department!

Movies Create The Best Halloween Costumes!

Avatar Neytiri Child Costume

Every year movies play a big role when children are deciding on a Halloween costume, and this year is no exception!  There have been some blockbuster hits on the big screen that have given us a lot of great characters that would be fun to dress-up as for Halloween.

Avatar Neytiri Child CostumeMovies already released this year that scream “pick me” for a great Halloween costume!

Movies soon to be released that will have children thinking costumes!

  • Robin Hood
  • Shrek Ever After
  • The Karate Kid
  • Toy Story 3

No matter what character jumps out at you at the movies, just remember you can find that Halloween costume here at HalloweenExpress.com.  Whether your going individually, as a couple or as a group for Halloween this year, movie costumes are the way to go!

Freddy’s Back!

Freddy Krueger Deluxe Costume

The latest Freddy Krueger “Nightmare On Elm Street” sequel was released in movie theaters April 30th.  Over the weekend it won first place at the box office bringing in $32.2 million!  Not bad since Freddy has been on a 7 year hiatus from the big screen.

Once again the movie takes place on Elm Street and the teens that live there are having really bad dreams!  I’m pretty sure it’s considered a bad dream where a serial killer sporting a melted face and a glove with four long blades embedded in the fingers shows up to kill you!

Since the original movie 7 years ago teens have been portraying good old Freddy for Halloween every year since.  This year will definitely be the year for Freddy Krueger costumes and accessories!

If you like the “old school” classic horror flicks, go see Nightmare On Elm Street…just don’t fall asleep while you’re there!!

Heroes Aren’t Born, They’re Built – Iron Man Is Back!

Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2

The original movie Iron Man was released on May 2, 2008 and quickly became a huge success.  For children and adults that love their superheroes, Iron Man became a household name.  There were a lot of “little” Iron Man’s trick-or-treating and a lot of “big” Iron Man’s at costume parties around the country that year for Halloween.

Well, the much anticipated sequel, Iron Man 2 has finally arrived and will be released on the big screen next Friday May 7th.  The billionaire genius, Tony Stark is back and wittier than ever!  If you saw the first one you know that they couldn’t have picked a better actor to play the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man than Robert Downey Jr.  He was excellent!  He’s accompanied by some other big name actors such as; Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle and Scartlett Johansson.   Of course leave it to Mickey Rourke’s acting skills to make the evil bad guy, Whiplash into a great character.

Iron Man costumes are going to be flying off the shelves again this year, so don’t wait to order yours.  I know my son can’t wait for May 7th so he and his friends can go see the movie.  He’s already told me he wants to be Iron Man and his best friend is going as the enemy, Whiplash for Halloween this year.

This is definitely going to be one blockbuster sequel you’re not going to want to miss!
