The Perfect Christmas Present – A Costume!

Speaking from experience I know costumes can keep children busy for hours.  Mine are still wearing their Halloween costumes around the house!  As you know my son Caden was Indiana Jones for Halloween and since he’s addicted to the movie he has no problem throwing on his costume and playing for hours in his make shift adventure tent he made in our backyard with his friends.   My oldest daughter Sydney was Hannah Montana and of course like every other little girl in the world, she loves dressing up and playing the part.

For Christmas every year I buy my young neices and nephews a costume that I know they’ll love.  My neices are perfectly happy with any type of princess costumes and my nephews are into the superhero costumes.  Since HalloweenExpress has so many princess and superhero costumes to pick from at great prices it’s easy to find the perfect costume for each of them.

It’s Halloween Madness – Welcome to My World!

Yea, one more day until Halloween!  The yard is decorated, the pumpkins are carved and the costumes are ready.  This year was a little bit more trying when getting my children to decide on what they wanted to be.  Not so much for my son but what is it about girls that they have such a hard time deciding what costume they want.  Finally after weeks of looking on HalloweenExpress.com we have our winners!

What do you get when you mix Indiana Jones, Hannah Montana and a kitty cat?  Well you get Indiana Jones trying to hack up Hannah Montana’s glitter microphone with his machete and a little girl in a cat suit chasing the dogs all over the house.  Welcome to my world!

For my 10 year old son Caden, he knew the minute the movie was released this summer that he was going to be Indiana Jones for Halloween.  He’s already seen the movie three times and can’t wait for it to come out on DVD (which will make it a perfect stocking stuffer at Christmas).  It was easy to find the Indiana Jones costume he wanted at HalloweenExpress.com.  Of course we had to get the complete package including the over-the-shoulder satchel bag, the leather whip and by all means he just couldn’t be seen as Indiana Jones without the machete!  Although I probably should have thought twice about the whip and machete, the costume fits him perfectly and he looks like a mini-me version of Harrison Ford’s character Dr. Henry Walton (aka Indiana Jones).

Now on to my 7 year old daughter, Sydney.  She had a little tougher time deciding, but after much consideration (and driving her mother crazy), she decided she wanted to be Hannah Montana.  Since she has brown hair we got her the blond wig so that she could be in complete character in her Hannah Montanna costume.  Add the glitter microphone and she’s set.  However, my son did say that if he has to listen to one more Hannah Montana song he was going to use his machete on her microphone.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Sydney’s costume goes missing after Halloween (don’t you just love little boys?)!

And last but certainly not least is my 5 year old kindergardener Olivia.  She absolutely loves animals and although we have three dogs she has always wanted a cat.  But with two Great Danes and a wild Chocolate Labrador puppy, a kitten would not be an ideal thing to add to our household at this time.  So she decided if she couldn’t have a kitty cat then she would just be one for Halloween.  I love that simple way of thinking that children have (little does she know that she will be the only kitty cat in this house for a long time to come)!  However, I do have to say she makes the sweetest kitty I’ve ever seen.

You can find these and so many more great kids Halloween costumes here at HalloweenExpress.com.  Happy shopping and Happy Halloween!

With Disney shows such as High School Musical, Hannah Montanna, The Cheetah Girls and Camp Rock it’s no wonder that a lot of little girls dream of growing up to be a popstar diva.  I know first hand that my daughter’s Sydney and Olivia love to watch all these shows and can’t get to their karaoke microphone fast enough.  At the time we bought the microphone we thought it would be “cute” to watch them sing and dance in their room, however we were in for a rude awakening if we thought they would just dance and sing in their room and not the entire house!  My son, Caden begs them to stop just moments before he flings the closest not nailed down piece of furniture that he can reach.  But girls have to be girls and that means the more Caden complains the louder their singing becomes until finally mom has to step in!  The Disney shows make it fun for them to dance and sing and of course they know all the words to every song on every show.  I think it’s great and I love to watch them perform (I just need to keep them away from the rec room when Caden is trying to play his Xbox).

Girls love all the flashy outfits worn by all the teen pop stars.  The more glitter the better!  Last year for Halloween my 7-year old niece went as a Mega Child Star in full sequened and feathered costume including a cute (but fake) wireless headset microphone.  She looked adorable and thought she was just the coolest thing ever to grace their neighborhood while trick-or-treating.   This year is no different with High School Musical 3: Senior Year coming out right before Halloween and Disney’s recently released television show Camp Rock.  Kids are eating this up!

At Halloween Express we have a huge selection of “pop diva costumes“  so that every girl can feel like a rock star this Halloween!

Every little girl dreams of being a princess and where else can you find the most popular princess characters than Disney.  Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine and Aurora are characters that every girl can relate to.  I know my sisters and I were all princesses at one time or another for Halloween and I think most women can say the same thing.

Disney sure makes it easy with all the wonderful characters not only in their big screen movies, but on the Disney Channel as well.  I know I’ve seen some wonderful characters trick-or-treating from these movies:

  • The Lion King
  • Toy Story
  • Monsters Inc
  • Power Rangers
  • 101 Dalmations

And the list goes on and on.  I remember last year my niece wanted to be Hannah Montana so badly that she just couldn’t believe that her mom could not find the costume anywhere because it sold out so quickly.  That’s why you may think it’s way too early to even think about a Halloween costume, but I’m telling you it’s not.

I don’t know about you, but my daughters could not get enough of High School Musical last year.  They must have watched the original and High School Musical 2 a dozen times.  Did you know that the original musical was released on January 20, 2006 and was one of the most successful Disney Channel Original Movies produced.  The film’s soundtrack was the best-selling album that year.  According the USA Today, the Nielsen ratings reported that on August 17, 2007, 17.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the premier of High School Musical 2 on the Disney Channel making it the most watched cable telecast in history.  Well guess what all you High School Musical fans?  This year on October 24, Disney will be releasing “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” and it will be the first film in the series to open not on the Disney Channel but on the big screen in movie theaters!  Since 2006 Disney has kept all the star characters of this franchise, Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad and Taylor top selling costumes for Halloween and it looks like they’re going to do it again this year!

So whether you like a traditional classic princess or superhero costume or a more “hip” costume like Hannah Montana or High School Musical, Disney has it all!
