Today, April 15th marks the release of the 4th movie in Wes Craven’s Scream series. If the first trilogy made the hair on the back of your neck stand up, Scream 4 is bound to do the same. With most of the old characters back as well as some new, younger faces, this movie will take you right into the heart of darkness and redefine what fear is. This latest chapter in the Scream series is out just in time for a good Spring Break scare. After you’ve seen Scream 4, check out our list of the Top Ten Scariest Movies of all time.

TOP 10 SCARIEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME

Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)- This classic horror flick gets started with the ominous line “based on true story” which pretty much makes a chill go down your spine every time. Whether it’s Leatherman’s human skin mask or that hideous chain saw sound—this is the perfect slasher movie for those that aren’t afraid to be scared or grossed out to death.

The Ring (2002)- Naomi Watts takes on some really freaky chick that would actually really like to climb out of a well, kill people and eat their guts. Freaky Stuff.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978) -This sci-fi thriller will leave you very disappointed if you like happy endings. If your family starts acting strangely it may make you wonder a bit, too.

Dawn Of The Dead (1978)- This sequel to the “Night of the Living Dead” brought new life to the zombie genre and with good reason. This horror flick has some of the goriest scenes ever recorded on film—definitely horrific enough to get it banned in 7 countries.

Halloween (1978) -Jamie Lee Curtis stars in what might be the best movie she ever made–at least while screaming through the entire thing. You will never forget Michael Myers as he truly epitomizes the ultimate zombie-like never can die bogeyman.

The Shining (1980)-Heeeeere’s Johnny! If you want to see Jack Nicholson traipse around a haunted hotel wielding an axe while acting like a complete lunatic this might be the perfect movie to scare the bejesus out of you.

The Exorcist (1973)-By today’s standards this movie might be considered to be tame. With spinning heads, buckets of vomit and not so subtle religious undertones—well, this film is still pretty scary stuff.

The Silence of The Lambs (1991)- You may not ever feel the same about your glass of Chianti after watching this psychological thriller but it’s a good one with quite a few jump right out of your skin scenes.

Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)-Freddy Kruegger, who is one of the scariest claw clad horror freaks of all time goes after the children of the lynch mob that killed him. Johnny Depp stars as one of his potential victims.

The Amityville Horror (1978) -This horror movie is also based on a true story and the book by the same name. An ordinary family moves into a not so ordinary house where some very frightening things begin to happen. If you like movies where things go bump in the night—this ones for you.

The original Rocky Horror Picture Show was released on September 26, 1975. It’s based off a British stage play by the same name. Still in limited release 35 years after its premiere, it has the longest-running theatrical release in film history.

It quickly gained a cult following when midnight screenings became popular in the mid to late 70′s. Theater owners would play the record album of the RHPS soundtrack before the showing to warm up the audience giving it a party atmosphere. Audiences soon began participating with the film in theatres by booing the villain and cheering the heroes. Before long the audiences sang along with every song, even acting out parts of the movie. The huge cult following is due in part to the fan participation during these midnight showings.

Besides the soundtrack being wonderful, the costumes in this movie make the characters! Dr Frank-N-Furter, Magenta, Riff Raff and Columbia all have over-the-top wild costumes. Talk about a great theme for your Halloween costumes this year!

Next week’s episode of Glee is the much-anticipated Halloween themed episode of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” It’s fittingly titled “The Rocky Horror Glee Show.” Finn and Rachel naturally play Brad and Janet, Kurt plays Riff Raff and Mercedes plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Glee is such a good show and The Rocky Horror Glee Show is going to be one you don’t want to miss!

Of course this is no surprise since where there’s Halloween there’s horror movies. They go together like Jason Voorhees and Camp Crystal Lake or Freddie Krueger and Elm Street!

You can almost feel the fear with all the horror movies being released this month - let the evil begin…

My Soul to Take 3D

Hereafter

Paranormal Activity 2

Halloween will be here before you know it so it’s time to really think about what you want to be this year. You can go the way of movies such as; IronMan, Avatar, Toy Story or Alice In Wonderland, or go the traditional scary route of vampires, zombies or the ever-pleasant Grim Reaper.

No matter what you decide to dress up as this Halloween, one way to ensure you get the most out of your costume is to complete the look with a costume kit. These kits are great for any costume! Just think about it…with the “kitty” costume kit you can work up a costume for a little girl – just add a pair of black leggings and a black turtleneck. If you’re thinking a little sexier for an adult cat costume - just add a black skin tight catsuit and a pair of over the knee black high heeled boots and you’re all set! Either way by adding the Cat Costume Kit of gloves, headband with ears and tail you’ve just turned yourself or your chid into a Kitty Cat! What kind of cat is simply up to you!

Costume kits are an easy and inexpensive way to transform yourself into character; bunny ears, butterfly wings, devil horns and even a pocket protector (for the nerd look). With the Michael Jackson Kit you can turn yourself into the “King of Pop” within seconds!

Just like in any fashion, accessories make the outfit!

One of the best things about Halloween, besides candy, is taking on the haunted houses! October 31st brings with it not only trick-or-treating and costume wearing, but all things spooky as well.

Haunted houses that people put on during the Halloween season are all in the name of fun. True, some of these haunted houses are made to scare you right down to the bones, but in the back of your mind you know that it’s not real. Or at least that’s what I try to convince myself of as I’m making my way through some of the scarier haunted houses! If you’re thinking of building your own haunted house this year, check out these great haunted house props. Believe me, the animated horror props will have your customers screaming for the exit!

However, there are haunted houses AND there are houses that are haunted – two completely different realms of terror. Places that have had paranormal activity where ghosts have been seen or heard are definitely a little more spine tingling and hair raising.

Here are some of the MOST HAUNTED PLACES TO VISIT.

The Amityville House As the story goes, on Nov. 13, 1974, Ronald Jr. (“Butch”) DeFeo killed six members of his family in a house in Amityville, New York. He claims there were demonic forces in the home that drove him to murder. When new owners moved into the house at 112 Ocean Avenue, they too experienced terrifying phenomenon, which led to a best-selling novel and two films.

Alcatraz – The infamous San Francisco Bay’s prison, a notorious penitentiary, known for its cold dark cells, saw many murders, riots and suicides during its 29 years of service. Now a national museum, it’s said to be haunted, with tales of inexplicable sounds, cell doors closing on their own, disembodied screams and scary apparitions.

Saint Augustine Lighthouse - Legend says three little girls died on the construction site, while playing with a rail car. When the car spun out of control, the girls were drowned in the water below. Now, visitors can hear a female crying, “Help me!” inside the tower, as well as mysterious lights and footsteps.

The Wizard of Oz is one movie that just about everyone I know has seen at some point in their lives. It’s definitely one of my favorites and my children love it as well! Who hasn’t heard of Dorothy, Toto and the good witch Glinda? The original film came out in 1939 with Judy Garland playing the part of Dorothy and it’s still as popular today as it was when it was released 71 years ago!

Halloween is always a fun time to portray the cast of The Wizard of Oz. I’ve seen many Dorothy’s wearing their sequined ruby slippers ringing our doorbell on Halloween night. The characters in the movie are famous all on their own; Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch are all hugely popular during the Halloween season. Even the Flying Monkey costumes are a hit!

This year for 2010 there’s a new twist on this old classic when it comes to Halloween costumes. The Wicked of Oz Mistress Dorothy costume is so cool! It takes the innocent sweet Dorothy to a whole new level, just in time for this sinister holiday. It’s her evil twin dressed in leather of course!

If you wanted to make it a group costume theme, you’ll find the Wicked of Oz Scarecrow (carrying a scythe) and the Wicked of Oz Lion, who is not cowardly at all! You’ll be the talk of the party this year with these great costumes!

The vampire craze has always been there, just not as popular as it is now. In the late 90′s, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel were two televisions series that brought vampires into the spotlight. Then in November 2008 the Twilight Series began and nothing has been the same for those blood thirsty lovers of the night.

The original movie and first in the series of 4 books to be released onto the big screen was “Twilight” in November 2008, followed by “New Moon” in November 2009 and soon to be released “Eclipse” at the end of this month. Isabella “Bella” Swan and Edward Cullen have a huge following of “Twi-Hards” that live and breathe Twilight Saga!

Other vampire related television series are also moving up in popularity; True Blood on HBO and The Vampire Diaries on CW. On June 20th, ABC is trying their hand at vampire shows by premiering “The Gates” about an upscale neighborhood of what else…vampires. Vampires are coming out of the woodwork and everybody is loving it!

Halloween has always been a great holiday for vampires…vampire costumes that is! Vampires of every age, old and young come out for some Halloween fun. Good thing that trick-or-treating is at night. That way the vampires feel right at home! At HalloweenExpress.com you’ll find every imaginable vampire and vampiress costume for Halloween this year! Whether you’re looking for a Queen of Darkness Costume or a Twilight Bite Teen Costume, you’ll find it here!

With one more movie to be released (after Eclipse) in the Twilight franchise, “Breaking Dawn”, you can bet the thrill of the vampire will not be ending anytime soon!

Once again the movie takes place on Elm Street and the teens that live there are having really bad dreams! I’m pretty sure it’s considered a bad dream where a serial killer sporting a melted face and a glove with four long blades embedded in the fingers shows up to kill you!

Since the original movie 7 years ago teens have been portraying good old Freddy for Halloween every year since. This year will definitely be the year for Freddy Krueger costumes and accessories!

If you like the “old school” classic horror flicks, go see Nightmare On Elm Street…just don’t fall asleep while you’re there!!
