Give Your Graduate a Hawaiian Luau Party!

Big Kahuna Adult Costume

It’s that time of year again when parents everywhere are planning graduation parties for their high school or college graduate!

The easiet way to plan a graduation party is to go with a specific theme in mind. The most popular is the Hawaiian Luau theme. In Hawaii, a luau is a gathering of family and friends to enjoy good food, good company, and good times; sounds like the perfect graduation party to me! There are so many tropical decorations to choose from that you should have no problem making your guests feel like they are truly partying in the tropics. Have the party goers where Hawaiian shirts and grass hula skirts.  As they arrive place a flowered lei around their neck.

Big Kahuna Adult CostumeOf course no Hawaiian Luau party would be complete without tiki lights, inflatable palm trees and the sounds of tropical Island music playing.  Games involving hula hoops are always fun and don’t forget the infamous “how low can you go” limbo contest.  For food, don’t forget the roasted pig!

And if you have a boy that’s graduating from high school or college, have him greet the party-goers in full regalia dressed as the Big Kahuna!  Everyone will love it and his party will be one to remember!

Spring Is A Wonderful Time For A Princess!

Cinderella Child Costume

Last weekend my daughter decided to throw an impromptu “Princess Party” in our backyard with some of her friends.  Even though it was very last minute it was amazing how many princesses showed up ready to play.

It was Disney comes to life in our backyard with Cinderella, Snow White, Tiana, Belle, Jasmine and the Little Mermaid all running around having fun.  I thank all the mom’s that had to dig through their child’s closet just to find the accessories that make a princess costume complete.  We know how important the tiara’s, white gloves and sparkling shoes are to a princess.

I think every little girl has at one time or another worn a princess costume.  It’s the way of the “little girl” world that from the moment they’re born, they become a princess.  With all the great Disney shows on television and on the big screen each with their own happily ever after, it’s no wonder little girls fall in love with the idea of being a princess.

Thankfully the spring weather was absolutely perfect for their Princess Party.  My husband draped sheets across the swing set giving them a palace to retreat to when lunch was served.  After a while they decided to have a princess parade down our street showing off all their beautiful costumes.  My daughter thought it was the best Princess Party ever!

Some Bunny Loves You!

Deluxe Bunny Adult Costume

This weekend will be filled with family get togethers, Easter Egg Hunts and honey baked hams.  The weather man says that Easter Sunday will be in the 70′s with plenty of sunshine and blue skies.  We couldn’t ask for a better Easter weekend!  Every year it’s up to me to plan our family’s annual Easter party.  I love doing it because we have a huge backyard giving us plenty of great hiding places for all those plastic Easter eggs the kids love to find.  The party is always on the Saturday before Easter.

The best way to be organized when planning your Easter party is to have a checklist of everything you need.

  • food
  • decorations
  • colored eggs
  • Easter egg hunt
  • games
  • prizes
  • bunny suit

Now this last item on my list is by far one of the most important.  Even though all the children know that the real Easter Bunny doesn’t come until they are nice and tucked into their beds Saturday night, they love when my husband puts on his Easter Bunny Costume and hands out candy.  The younger ones get so excited when the “Easter Bunny” walks around the backyard with them to help them find their hidden Easter eggs.

Easter is right up there with Christmas as far as children are concerned.  Every kid loves the Easter Bunny and the candy that he brings!

Here’s wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter!!

Spring Break Family Fun!

Costumes for Girls

Spring is in the air and people are starting to migrate outdoors. College students are hitting the beaches after midterms to relax, party and have some fun in the sun.

Families across the country are planning for their spring break trips since the kids will be out of school for a week. Over the river and thru the woods many families will be traveling to visit relatives. Others will be heading south to warmer temperatures for a little fun in the sun family style (which is quite a bit different than the college style of spring break)!

However with the economy the way it is a lot of families will be celebrating spring break at home. I’ll be joining that club this year too so we might as well let the kids have some fun and be able to entertain themselves for awhile. How do we do that? Well, costumes of course! Kids love costumes! It brings out their creativity and imagination and let’s them run wild with it for hours on end.

Get your child a superhero costume and watch them transform right before your eyes. With the right costume, they can become anything they want to be; superheroes, ninjas, princesses, rock stars, cowboys, athletes, etc. and the list goes on and on.

This spring break have fun with your children while letting their imaginations run free! Put on a play or have a neighborhood costume party. You don’t need to go anywhere for your kids to have plenty of fun right in their own backyard!
