Batman and The Joker are Back and Better Than Ever!

The Dark Knight was one of the biggest summer blockbuster movies this year and is still going strong in theaters.  It brought Batman and The Joker back to the forefront in terms of merchandise, toys and of course Halloween costumes.  Batman is always a popular Halloween costume every year, but this year they’re selling up a storm in both childrens and adult sizes and they’re almost impossible to find.  Well, not anymore!

At HalloweenExpress.com we just received a new shipment of Batman The Dark Knight costumes.   We now have the amazing Batman and Joker Deluxe Costumes in both childrens and adult sizes.  But hurry they won’t last long!  If you haven’t seen The Dark Knight yet, you should go see it this weekend.  With the help of Heath Ledger giving a great perfomance playing the Joker, The Dark Knight is by far the best Batman movie yet!  It won’t disappoint!

You Go Girl!

With Disney shows such as High School Musical, Hannah Montanna, The Cheetah Girls and Camp Rock it’s no wonder that a lot of little girls dream of growing up to be a popstar diva.  I know first hand that my daughter’s Sydney and Olivia love to watch all these shows and can’t get to their karaoke microphone fast enough.  At the time we bought the microphone we thought it would be “cute” to watch them sing and dance in their room, however we were in for a rude awakening if we thought they would just dance and sing in their room and not the entire house!  My son, Caden begs them to stop just moments before he flings the closest not nailed down piece of furniture that he can reach.  But girls have to be girls and that means the more Caden complains the louder their singing becomes until finally mom has to step in!  The Disney shows make it fun for them to dance and sing and of course they know all the words to every song on every show.  I think it’s great and I love to watch them perform (I just need to keep them away from the rec room when Caden is trying to play his Xbox).

Girls love all the flashy outfits worn by all the teen pop stars.  The more glitter the better!  Last year for Halloween my 7-year old niece went as a Mega Child Star in full sequened and feathered costume including a cute (but fake) wireless headset microphone.  She looked adorable and thought she was just the coolest thing ever to grace their neighborhood while trick-or-treating.   This year is no different with High School Musical 3: Senior Year coming out right before Halloween and Disney’s recently released television show Camp Rock.  Kids are eating this up!

At Halloween Express we have a huge selection of “pop diva costumes“  so that every girl can feel like a rock star this Halloween!

Could It Be – High School Musical 3?

If you have children or if you haven’t had your head buried in the sand for the past two years, chances are you’ve either heard about or seen High School Musical and High School Musical 2 on the Disney Channel.  Did you know that when the original High School Musical came out in January 2006 it became the most successful Disney Channel Original Movie ever produced and the film’s soundtrack was the best-selling album in the United States for that year?  Plus High School Musical 2 shattered cable television records when the premiere was watched by 18.6 million viewers.  That is huge!  Disney really hit it big with this show.

But Disney didn’t stop there!  On October 24th, High School Musical 3: Senior Year is coming out in movie theaters – no more television for these guys, Disney is going straight to the big screen with this one and it’s the first Disney Channel Original Movie to do that with a sequel.

The series revolves around a group of six high school students; Troy – the basketball star, Gabriella – the math wize, Sharpay and Ryan – co-presidents of the Drama Club, Chad - Troy’s best friend and teammate and Taylor -head of the science club.  There’s a lot of singing and dancing along with all the drama of high school that kids love.   Since both High School Musical and High School Musical 2 were such huge hits I’m sure High School Musical 3: Senior Year will be just as well received!  I know my daughter is on pins and needles waiting for it to come out and she already has plans with a couple of her friends to go and see it the Friday night it opens.  I’m sure I won’t be the only mother with giggling girls at the movie theater that night!

However, the news just keeps getting better.  It seems Disney is already in the writing stages for High School Musical 4!  I’m not sure what they would call it since High School Muscial 3 is supposed to take place their senior year, but we’ll just have to wait and see what Disney will end up doing with the clan at East High!

You can bet we’ll see a lot of the High School Musical characters ringing doorbells this year on Halloween.  For the past couple of years High School Musical costumes have been extremely popular and with High School Musical 3: Senior Year coming out the week before Halloween you can bet it will be even more so this year.  So if you’re thinking of becoming Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad or Taylor for a night you’d better start ordering your costumes today!  Go East High Wildcats!

Happy Halloween – Family Style!

Wow I can’t believe we are into the month of August already!  Once again time is flying by and before you know it we’ll be into September then into one of my favorite months, October – which we all know leads us straight to Halloween!  And speaking of Halloween have you been looking around for your costume by chance?  At Halloween Express we are a one stop shop where you can get anything and everything related to the Halloween holiday with the touch of a button.  It’s that easy!

Because we have one of the largest selections of Halloween costumes anywhere it can be a little overwhelming trying to see everything in order to make your selection so we’ve made it a little easier for you.  My favorite is the ”family costume idea” page – what a great idea!  Since our children are little my husband and I take turns walking around the neighborhood with them as they trick-or-treat.  One goes with the kids and the other stays at home and gives out the candy.   We always switch off half way through so that we both get to be out with the kids.  The “family costume” page is filled with great ideas for parents with children to all dress with the same costume theme.

Some of my favorite ”family costume ideas ” are:

All these themed family costumes are really amazing when everyone has on something from the “theme” you decide to go with.  It doesn’t have to be one of the themes we show, you can make one up on your own using some of our other great costume ideas.  Just have fun with whatever theme you decide to go with.   If your kids see you having a great time out on Halloween night, they will too!

It Only Takes a Costume To Become a Superhero!

My son Caden turned nine last Wednesday so we had a big birthday party for him at our house on Saturday.  I let Cade pick out the theme for his party and he decided on “Superheroes”.  With the Batman movie The Dark Knight being released Friday he already knew that’s exactly who he wanted to be.  So Friday night my husband and I took him to see the movie (with everybody else in the free world).  It was packed but honestly it was really cool because everybody in the theater was cheering on Batman so Cade really got into it.  By the way, the movie was (as Cade would say) AWESOME!  I was looking forward to it because I liked Batman Returns, but I had no idea it would be as good as it was.  In my blog earlier that day I said that a lot of reviews had Heath Ledger earning an oscar for his role as Joker and now that I’ve seen the movie, I wholeheartedly agree with it!  He was amazing.  You would have never guessed it was Heath Ledger playing the part.  Nothing in the Joker’s character would have given it away.  Anyway, if you haven’t seen the movie you should!

Back to the party…  Caden made a very handsome Batman (if I do say so myself) and what was so neat was that every one of his friends came as a Superhero of some sort.  Thankfully Caden was the only Batman, but we did have Superman, Spiderman, The Green Flash, Captain America, Zorro, a few of the Power Rangers, The Incredible Hulk plus a couple Ninja Turtles thrown in for good measure.  The kids loved it!  They were on a sugar high all day, running around with masks on and capes flying.

If you need an idea for a theme party for your child’s birthday, then you have to throw a “Superhero” party.  Believe me your child and their friends will have so much fun and it will be a party they won’t soon forget!  Check out our kids Superhero costume page here at Halloween Express and let your kids decide which Superhero they want to be for the day!
