Wherefore Art Thou, Gnomeo & Juliet!

Gnomeo and Juliet

Gnomeo and Juliet

Touchstone Pictures have done it again with their new animated movie Gnomeo & Juliet 3D.  Today is the big release day and it looks like an adorable movie that kids will enjoy!  It’s about a forbidden love between garden gnomes Gnomeo and Juliet…sound familiar?  I think even William Shakespeare would have loved this film!

Along with the little blue Gnomeo and red Juliet gnomes, there’s a giant lawn mower (a weapon of grass destruction) that goes by the name of  the Terrafirminator, a plastic flamingo with a cute Spanish accent, a little deer named Fawn and a frog named Roseanne that add to the “aw that’s so sweet” factor of the movie.  With all these adorable characters the movie is going to be a hit at Halloween with the toddler Garden Gnome costumes!

Garden gnomes have actually been around for over 150 years gracing lawns all across the world.  So it was only a matter of time before a movie was made based on one of these cute creatures!

“It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”

It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

I love Halloween!  It’s a holiday for everyone, ages 2 to 92.  There are so many fun things to do from going out to haunted houses and pumpkin patches to staying home and watching all the great Halloween shows on television.  It’s a great time to get together with you family and friends, make some popcorn and enjoy the shows!

One of our all time favorite Halloween shows is by far, “It’s the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown“.  It’s a tradition in our family that goes way back to when I was young.  I hope my children watch it with their kids when they grow up and have their own families.  I know Charlie Brown will still be around even then!

It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

Did you know that the Charlie Brown Halloween show has been on the air since October 1966?  It’s been on every year since then during the month of October.  That’s got to tell you something!  The show is adorable!  Who can resist Linus and his hope to see The Great Pumpkin?

All the Peanuts characters are wonderful; Charlie Brown, Linus, Sally, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Pig Pen, Marcie, Schroeder and of course Snoopy and Woodstock.  Charles Schulz really knew what he was doing when he invented all these great characters.

HalloweenExpress.com now has a whole line of Peanuts costumes that will make a great theme if you’re looking for group costumes or even if you’re going on your own.  Looking for a Charlie Brown costume, then look no further!  Go as the whole Peanuts gang for Halloween this year!

A Family That “Shrek’s” Together, Stays Together!

Shrek Costumes

Shrek Costumes

Ever since May 2001, the lovable ogre Shrek has become a household name.  Today, with three more movies added to the franchise, Shrek and his friends are more popular than ever!

All the movies are hilarious!  I can’t say enough good things about them.  It’s such a great animated film that you can take the whole family to.  My kids loved it and I think my husband and I were laughing even harder than they were.

For the past eight years, Halloween costumes for the Shrek characters fly off the shelves during the holiday and this year will be no different.  There’s so many great characters to choose from when it comes to picking out your Halloween costume; Princess Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots and the Three Blind Mice are so much fun to dress up as.

Since the latest movie in the series was just released a couple months ago called “Shrek Forever After“, Shrek and his friends are back on the scene!   This Halloween make it a family night by everyone dressing as a character from the movie!  Dad can be Shrek, mom can be Princess Fiona and have the kids dress up as Donkey, Puss in Boots or even the Gingerbread Man.  The possibilities are endless and fun!

You’re Never Too Young To Trick-or-Treat!

Infant Incredible Hulk Costume

The Halloween holiday isn’t for another four months however, it’s never too early to look for costumes.  I talk a lot in my blogs about how popular Halloween has become with adults, but today it’s all about the little ones.

Infant Incredible Hulk CostumeTrick-or-treating on Halloween night is for kids of all ages from toddlers to tweens.  They do start early when it comes to getting candy!

I’ve seen toddlers that haven’t even started toddling yet trick-or-treating.  Even though they can’t say “trick-or-treat” or even walk up to the door to ring the doorbell, there they are all dressed up in the cutest baby costumes.  Mom and dad are pulling them around in their Little Tykes wagon and they couldn’t be happier.  There’s usually an older brother or sister pre-school to elementary school age that mom and dad are actually following around the neighborhood and the little one gets to come along for the ride.

Tom Arma Costumes are perfect for toddlers and infants.  His costumes will have every other parent in the neighborhood jealous of how adorable your little one looks.  You’re in luck too because the Tom Arma Costume line is only available exclusively from Halloween Express!

Even though there’s really not any candy that a baby/infant can have during the trick-or-treat festivities, they are just as happy to sit by and watch all the kids running around having a good old time.  It won’t be long before they’re dressed up in the latest Halloween costumes and running along side their brothers and sisters on Halloween night!

Can You Tell Me How To Get To Sesame Street!

Original Cast of Sesame Street

Sesame Street

On November 10, 1969 a children’s production with a mix of adults, kids, muppets, live animation and music premiered on PBS.   It was a little educational program geared toward inner city children that turned into the longest running children’s program on television.  There’s not a child or adult that does not recognize the theme song when they hear, “Can you tell me how to get…how to get to Sesame Street”!

The muppet characters on Sesame Street are just as popular today as they were 40 years ago.

  • Bert and Ernie
  • Big Bird
  • Cookie Monster
  • Elmo
  • Oscar
  • Grover
  • Count Von Count

Sesame Street costumes are always popular at Halloween for both children and adults.  Just last year, our friends next door went to the annual neighborhood party as Bert and Ernie.  The kids loved it because the characters were recognizable to them.  The adults loved it because the costumes were hysterical!

Who doesn’t love Big Bird and Elmo; the grouch Oscar with his garbage can or the adorable blue Cookie Monster?  Sesame Street is filled with wonderful characters that children love to watch and learn from.  There’s not many shows on television today that both children and parents love to watch.

Here’s to another 40 years of Sesame Street!
