Touchstone Pictures have done it again with their new animated movie Gnomeo & Juliet 3D.  Today is the big release day and it looks like an adorable movie that kids will enjoy!  It’s about a forbidden love between garden gnomes Gnomeo and Juliet…sound familiar?  I think even William Shakespeare would have loved this film!

Along with the little blue Gnomeo and red Juliet gnomes, there’s a giant lawn mower (a weapon of grass destruction) that goes by the name of  the Terrafirminator, a plastic flamingo with a cute Spanish accent, a little deer named Fawn and a frog named Roseanne that add to the “aw that’s so sweet” factor of the movie.  With all these adorable characters the movie is going to be a hit at Halloween with the toddler Garden Gnome costumes! 

Garden gnomes have actually been around for over 150 years gracing lawns all across the world.  So it was only a matter of time before a movie was made based on one of these cute creatures!

One of our all time favorite Halloween shows is by far, “It’s the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown“.  It’s a tradition in our family that goes way back to when I was young.  I hope my children watch it with their kids when they grow up and have their own families.  I know Charlie Brown will still be around even then!

Did you know that the Charlie Brown Halloween show has been on the air since October 1966?  It’s been on every year since then during the month of October.  That’s got to tell you something!  The show is adorable!  Who can resist Linus and his hope to see The Great Pumpkin? 

All the Peanuts characters are wonderful; Charlie Brown, Linus, Sally, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Pig Pen, Marcie, Schroeder and of course Snoopy and Woodstock.  Charles Schulz really knew what he was doing when he invented all these great characters.

Ever since May 2001, the lovable ogre Shrek has become a household name.  Today, with three more movies added to the franchise, Shrek and his friends are more popular than ever!

All the movies are hilarious!  I can’t say enough good things about them.  It’s such a great animated film that you can take the whole family to.  My kids loved it and I think my husband and I were laughing even harder than they were.

Trick-or-treating on Halloween night is for kids of all ages from toddlers to tweens.  They do start early when it comes to getting candy! 

I’ve seen toddlers that haven’t even started toddling yet trick-or-treating.  Even though they can’t say “trick-or-treat” or even walk up to the door to ring the doorbell, there they are all dressed up in the cutest baby costumes.  Mom and dad are pulling them around in their Little Tykes wagon and they couldn’t be happier.  There’s usually an older brother or sister pre-school to elementary school age that mom and dad are actually following around the neighborhood and the little one gets to come along for the ride.

How many times have we referred to our little girls as “my little angel”?  It’s an endearing term that just about every mother and father gives their little bundle of joy. 

I’m pretty sure that it’s some unwritten law that little girls have to be an angel for Halloween.  I was when I was young and both my daughters have been angels for Halloween.  The white dress, the fairy wings and the beautiful halo are all a part of what children see when their looking for that perfect angel costume.

Mine always loved a costume that sparkled and angel costumes glitter, so it’s a perfect match.  You don’t see too many little boy angels because they’re usually more into things that don’t glitter and have wings.

Every year our neighborhood has an Easter parade for all the kids. They decorate their bikes, wagons, strollers and scooters with streamers, decorations and of course Easter baskets and ride down street in perfect parade fashion. The parents sit at the end of their driveways and give out candy. The kids love it!

For the last few years my kids have been wearing Easter costumes and now practically the whole neighborhood does it. It’s sort of an early Halloween because all the kids call it their Easter trick-or-treating parade. If you have a small neighborhood you should really think of having the kids put on a parade. The kids get so into it there’s not much the adults have to do anymore!

During the Christmas holiday your child’s imagination is in full swing;  imagining Santa and his reindeer’s led by Rudolph flying across the night sky, imagining all the happy little elves working very hard in Santa’s workshop at the North Pole and imagining Santa coming down the chimney with a sack full of toys just for them.  That’s what I love about children and Christmas, their innocence and their imaginations!  I remember being young and trying to imagine all those things and more.  

This Christmas enhance their imaginations even more by giving them a really cool costume.  Children love costumes and love the fact that they can be anything they want to be by just putting one on.  Just watch your childs face light up as they become that superhero that they adore on tv.  A kids costume is a gift that keeps on giving!
