September is Football!

The long summer days are coming to an end, the kids are back in school and autumn is in the air.  That can only mean one thing – Halloween is coming!  We have a bunch of big Oak trees in our backyard and I can’t believe that the leaves are starting to change color and beginning to fall already.  The official first day of fall isn’t until September 22nd, so it seems a little early yet, but since autumn is my favorite time of year I’m not complaining.  I love when the weather cools down, the leaves change beautiful shades of orange and yellow and the start of one of my other favorite things – football season!  Go Bengals!

Labor Day weekend is upon us and I consider that the unofficial ending of summer – the last big bang!  Since a lot of people are off work on Monday, Sunday is a big day of picnics, parades, family get togethers and neighborhood party’s.  The weather here this weekend is supposed to be beautiful in the upper 80′s so I’ll be having my family and friends over for a little swimming, a little barbeque and a lot of fun!

Did you know that Labor Day is always the first Monday in September and is created from the labor movement and dedicated to the achievements of American workers?  It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the prosperity and well-being of our country.  Therefore, it is appropriate that the nation give recognition on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation’s strength, freedom and leadership – the American worker -white collar, blue collar or no collar, every worker should get a pat on the back!

Labor Day also kicks off my official count down to Halloween - 60 days and counting!  Now is as good of a time as any to not just think about what you want to be for Halloween, but get out there and start ordering.  HalloweenExpress.com sends out some discount coupons to everyone on their email list.  If you haven’t signed up yet click here: “sign up now” or go to our home page, scroll down and click on the orange “sign up now” icon at the bottom left hand side of the page.

If you’re like me and love football check out some of our great football costumes for men, women and children.  There’s something for everyone!

Happy Labor Day!!

Happy Halloween – Family Style!

Wow I can’t believe we are into the month of August already!  Once again time is flying by and before you know it we’ll be into September then into one of my favorite months, October – which we all know leads us straight to Halloween!  And speaking of Halloween have you been looking around for your costume by chance?  At Halloween Express we are a one stop shop where you can get anything and everything related to the Halloween holiday with the touch of a button.  It’s that easy!

Because we have one of the largest selections of Halloween costumes anywhere it can be a little overwhelming trying to see everything in order to make your selection so we’ve made it a little easier for you.  My favorite is the ”family costume idea” page – what a great idea!  Since our children are little my husband and I take turns walking around the neighborhood with them as they trick-or-treat.  One goes with the kids and the other stays at home and gives out the candy.   We always switch off half way through so that we both get to be out with the kids.  The “family costume” page is filled with great ideas for parents with children to all dress with the same costume theme.

Some of my favorite ”family costume ideas ” are:

All these themed family costumes are really amazing when everyone has on something from the “theme” you decide to go with.  It doesn’t have to be one of the themes we show, you can make one up on your own using some of our other great costume ideas.  Just have fun with whatever theme you decide to go with.   If your kids see you having a great time out on Halloween night, they will too!

We Love Disney!

Every little girl dreams of being a princess and where else can you find the most popular princess characters than Disney.  Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine and Aurora are characters that every girl can relate to.  I know my sisters and I were all princesses at one time or another for Halloween and I think most women can say the same thing.

Disney sure makes it easy with all the wonderful characters not only in their big screen movies, but on the Disney Channel as well.  I know I’ve seen some wonderful characters trick-or-treating from these movies:

  • The Lion King
  • Toy Story
  • Monsters Inc
  • Power Rangers
  • 101 Dalmations

And the list goes on and on.  I remember last year my niece wanted to be Hannah Montana so badly that she just couldn’t believe that her mom could not find the costume anywhere because it sold out so quickly.  That’s why you may think it’s way too early to even think about a Halloween costume, but I’m telling you it’s not.

I don’t know about you, but my daughters could not get enough of High School Musical last year.  They must have watched the original and High School Musical 2 a dozen times.  Did you know that the original musical was released on January 20, 2006 and was one of the most successful Disney Channel Original Movies produced.  The film’s soundtrack was the best-selling album that year.  According the USA Today, the Nielsen ratings reported that on August 17, 2007, 17.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the premier of High School Musical 2 on the Disney Channel making it the most watched cable telecast in history.  Well guess what all you High School Musical fans?  This year on October 24, Disney will be releasing “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” and it will be the first film in the series to open not on the Disney Channel but on the big screen in movie theaters!  Since 2006 Disney has kept all the star characters of this franchise, Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad and Taylor top selling costumes for Halloween and it looks like they’re going to do it again this year!

So whether you like a traditional classic princess or superhero costume or a more “hip” costume like Hannah Montana or High School Musical, Disney has it all!

Tom Arma – “The Armani of the Kiddy Costume World”

For any parent that is looking for the most adorable costume for their pre-school aged child whether it’s for Halloween or something else, you have got to check out the Tom Arma line of animal costumes sold exclusively through Halloween Express.

Tom Arma is known as “the most published baby photographer in the world” by the New York Times.  He began his photographic career as a teenager with the New York Daily News as their youngest staff photographer.  After years of daily deadlines he decided to leave the world of journalism to open his own studio.  In 1972 he began his work with babies and loved that he could capture the totally uninhibited beauty of a child through his work.

Besides the fact that there isn’t a child out there that wouldn’t look absolutely adorable in one of his heirloom quality designs, there’s so much more to Tom Arma than just costumes.  To express his ecological concerns, Tom has partnered with the National Wildlife Federation.  When you buy one of his Signature Collection costumes it comes with an animal package insert called “critter facts” so you and your child can learn more about how to promote conservation awareness for the animal your child will be portraying with the costume.

He has also created a “Please Save the Animals” series of posters, greeting cards and calendars that is a huge success worldwide.  He now has 47 books published and his costumes have been featured on Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, CNN Headline News, The Today Show, MSN and ABC News.

So if you have a pre-school aged child and want that one-of-a-kind costume that everyone will love, Tom Arma is exactly what you’re looking for.  Believe me, they are the “cutest” costumes out there today!

Be sure to check out the 2008 Tom Arma Baby and Toddler of the Year phot contest here at HalloweenExpress.com.  Moms and Dads across the country can submit pictures of their baby or toddler in an ANIMAL THEMED COSTUME  for a chance to become the 2008 Tom Arma Baby or Toddler of the Year!  Don’t miss it!
