Here Comes Peter Cottontail

This year Easter will be celebrated two weeks earlier than it was last year.  It’s on Sunday, March 23 while last year it was on April 8th.  For some reason I always liked celebrating Easter in the month of April - March just seems so early to me.  Oh well, I’m hoping the weather is nice so that all those pretty Easter dresses and bonnets can be worn without the off chance of an unwanted snowfall.

Halloween Express is the place to go for all your Easter costumes.  If your Easter Bunny needs to be big, tall, short, little, old or young you’ve come to the right place!  If you haven’t seen our Tom Arma children’s Easter costumes you are really missing out on some of the most adorable costumes ever.  The bunny, sheep, flamingo and flower are just some of the great costumes for your little ones this Easter.

Every year in our neighborhood on the Saturday before Easter we have all the children dress up in their Easter best and walk around with their Easter baskets to each house for Easter eggs and candy.  Then of course we have the big Easter Egg hunt for all the different ages.  When my son, Caden was little he always hated having to put on his Easter outfit, so one year I decided to let him pick out a costume to wear that had an Easter theme.  He loved it!  Of course we still had to go round and round when I told him he couldn’t wear the yellow Peeps Costume to church, but he did wear it everywhere else that year.  If your family, friends or neighborhood is having an Easter party it’s the perfect time to put your infant or toddler in one of our great costumes.  Your children will love it and so will you!

Super Tuesday – Fat Tuesday

Today is the day for celebration!  Fat Tuesday is the last day of Mardi Gras with tomorrow being Ash Wednesday. I’m sure there will be plenty of celebrating going on in New Orleans tonight.  And of course, for those who follow politics, today is Super Tuesday.  The closest thing to a national primary this country has ever had.  Twenty-four states hold primary elections today.  Gosh, I can’t wait until the election is over in November.  I don’t know about you but I’m tired of all the commercials … and we’re not even to the general election yet!  Yikes.

Speaking of Presidents, check out the President Day costumes and masks online. President’s Day is February 18th.

Role Playing For Your Sweetheart

Wow!  Was that an amazing Super Bowl Game last night or what?  Now that’s football!  We were on the edge of our seats until the very last seconds of the game.  It’s the first time I’ve watched the Super Bowl where I was more interested in the game than I was in the commercials.  Congrats to the New York Giants – 2008 Super Bowl XLII champs!

Ok, now on to another important subject - Valentine’s Day.   It’s only ten more days away and will be here before you know it, but there’s still time to get the sweatheart in your life that perfect gift.  Or better yet ladies, why wait to see what your significant other will get you, when you can get exactly what you want today?

Since Valentine’s Day is known as a romantic holdiay, what better time to “role play” your sexy inner goddess.  If you’re like me it would take a lot of role playing for me to feel sexy, but thank God it doesn’t take much for my husband to see it!  I really believe a lot of women feel the same way.  So I think we need to just throw out our insecurities for the night and have fun this Valentine’s Day (after that we can go right back to sleeping in our flannel pj’s)!

Here are a few suggestions:

  • beautiful ballerina
  • alluring angel
  • playboy bunny
  • seductive lady love bug
  • sexy cowgirl
  • provocative candy striper
  • come-hither cupid

These are just a few ideas.  Be sure to check out all our flirtatious “role playing” costumes under the heading Valentine’s Day on our home page.  Believe me, the man in your life will thank you for it!

Super Bowl Sunday

Are you ready for some football?!  This Sunday, February 3 my husband will be like millions of other football fans, sitting in front of our tv, a buffalo wing in one hand and a beer in the other watching Super Bowl XLII between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.  If you love football, there is no better way to spend Sunday!  I do enjoy watching football games, especially if my favorite team is playing (which by the way didn’t happen this year).  But, no matter what teams are playing in the Super Bowl it’s one game that everyone watches.  I’ll admit though, my favorite part of the Super Bowl is watching the commercials!  I love them!  I’m looking forward to seeing what the big advertisers come up with this year.  I think the Budweiser commercials are my favorite!  This year it’s not going to be too hard actually watching the game though because as every female out there knows – it’s not hard on the eyes to watch Tom Brady and Eli Manning play football!

The traditional Super Bowl Party is probably the least fussy, most laid-back party you can host all year.  So there is no point in holding anything back! Go all out and serve everyone’s favorite high fat, finger-licking snack foods. After all, your television set is the focal point, not the food. Wings, subs, pizza and chili are just some of the easily prepared (or even easier – ordered) foods that people love to eat at Super Bowl party’s.  Throw a basket of chips or pretzels around and your set.  Although don’t forget you have to have plenty of beer to wash down all that food.

I don’t have a favorite in Sunday’s big game which will make it easy for me to sit back relax and enjoy the festivities.  Here’s to Super Bowl XLII!!

Oh, and don’t forget … Tuesday is FAT TUESDAY.  You still have time to get that Mardi Gras mask online!

Will You Be My Valentine?

The other day my daughter Sydney, who is in the 2nd grade, brought home a note from her teacher.  Each child needs to bring in Valentine’s Day cards for everyone in their class and a box that they decorate themselves so they have a place to put all their Valentine’s.  She is so excited!  She ran upstairs, grabbed the first shoebox she found and headed into the dining room with tissue paper, tape and scissors.  When she had all that in place I took her to the store thinking we’d run in, pick up some Valentine’s and get home in time for me to start dinner.  What was I thinking?!  I didn’t realize that this was going to be the biggest decision of her life picking out what Valentine’s to give to the boys and girls in her class!  After careful deliberation she decided on High School Musical and of course, Hannah Montana.  With the hard part over, we headed home.

Well, I thought the hard part was over until we sat down at the table and she had to decide which Valentine to give to each child in her class.  Of course you don’t want to give a “girl” card to a boy or vice versa – the world would end as we know it!  After writing her name on the back of every card and addressing the envelopes with each child’s name in her class, she finally started decorating the shoebox.  I helped her with cutting a hole in the top for the cards to slide in while she wrapped the box in pink, red and white tissue paper.  Then with any extra cards she had she cut out words and pictures and glued them all over the box.  It looked beautiful and she was so proud of her Valentine’s Day box.

Seeing all the planning and work that Sydney put into her Valentine’s for her classmates made me realize that Valentine’s Day is not just for loved ones and sweethearts, but for friends as well.
