Have you been naughty or nice?

We’re well on our way into December and Christmas Day will be here before you know it.  Everyone is running around getting their shopping done and taking their children to see Santa at the mall.  In the past I was one of those moms that got my kids all dressed up and waited in the line for hours at the mall to see Santa.  Then it never failed that one of them would get antsy in line or have to go to the bathroom or when we would finally make it up to see Santa my youngest, Olivia would have a meltdown! So finally last year my husband decided to have a good friend of his dress up as Santa (in full Santa gear) and come over to our house to surprise the kids.  They loved it!  Even Olivia found Santa fascinating.  I think it was because she was in her own home and felt safe knowing that Santa wouldn’t just up and run off with her. At Halloween Express we have every imaginable style and size of Santa costume you need.  From velour and velvet to a premium plush, we have them all.  You might want to even take it a step further and add a Mrs. Claus costume.  We have the traditional Mrs. Claus with the long red velvet dress trimmed in faux rabbit fur with white satin apron. Or you could take it in the complete opposite direction (although hopefully not around kids) and get the Sexy Santa Helper costume that I’m sure Santa would appreciate!  If that’s more your “cup of tea” then check out all our Santa helper costumes! They definitely ask the question, “Have you been naughty or nice?”

Halloween Traditions

I hope everyone is recuperating well from their night out at Halloween parties, contests, and club-hopping in your costumes.  With Halloween falling on a Wednesday this year and being right in the middle of the week there are actually quite a few costume parties the Saturday after Halloween too.  Which gives you twice the fun of getting to go to two costume parties instead of just one this year.  However, if you’re feeling really bad this morning after a long night of ghostly celebration you might think about cutting back on the “spooky cider” at your next party!

In my blog a few days ago I talked about how every Halloween it’s a tradition at our house to have the whole family over before the trick-or-treating starts and order several large pizzas so that the kids get a chance to eat something quick before they’re out the door and running!   I just happened to notice in the paper this morning a big article on how pizza has become the new “Halloween dinner”.  It is among the top five nights of the year for home deliveries along with – the day before Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Super Bowl Sunday.  So apparently it’s not just a tradition in our household!

Another tradition we have is going to the pumpkin patch and letting the kids pick out their own perfect pumpkin to carve.  Today is probably the last day that a lot of the pumpkin patches and farms will be open, so get out there and find yourself a pumpkin.  It’s actually a good idea to wait until the weekend before Halloween to carve your pumpkin.  That way it still looks nice and plump instead of mushy after sitting outside for a couple weeks.

Don’t forget that Halloween Express can still deliver your Halloween Costume before Halloween. And, if you’re attending one of the many parties next Saturday (which by the way is when we turn our clocks back one-hour so you get an extra hour to party!), you have time to order your costume. Here’s more information on the shipping options we offer: Shipping and Delivery.

Horror Film Series – Saw

The horror movie “Saw IV” was released yesterday just in time for Halloween.  It’s the fourth installment in the popular Saw horror film series.  The fourth film’s release date follows the series tradition that the films be released the Friday before Halloween of each year. Like all good horror films it’s full of suspense and plenty of blood and gore. This installment continues the story of the John Kramer (aka: Jigsaw Killer), and his obsession with teaching people the value of their own lives. My nephew and his friends went to see it as soon as they got out of school yesterday and loved it.  The initial reviews for Saw IV have been really good:

  • will please any fan of the franchise
  • has everything you’d ever want from a Saw film
  • will really bring it full circle
  • best of the lot
  • gory and twisted

Previously released Saw movies:

  • Saw – released 2004
  • Saw II – released 2005
  • Saw III – released 2006

There is said to be two more installments (Saw V & VI) of the Saw horror series in the works.  I’m sure my nephews will be glad to hear about that!

Well, off the subject of movies and onto the fun subject of Halloween Party’s!  I’m sure many people will be getting their costumes on tonight and going out to parties and the clubs.  If you’re planning on entering a costume contest – good luck!  I’m sure if you’re wearing one of our wonderful costumes you’ll be holding that 1st place prize before the nights over.  Have fun and remember to be safe!
